All eyes on Frederikshavn Municipality

In June, the Energy cities annual conference in Bornova, Izmir, Turkey, took place in scenic surroundings under the headline 'inspire through cooperation'.
The Energy City was asked to present key findings on how to mobilize savings 'sleeping' in citizens’ bank accounts.

At the Bazaar Forum Sessions, Professor Eckart Würzner, President of Energy Cities and Mayor of Heidelberg, Germany, payed great attention to the sessions conducted by Bahram Dehghan.

Subsequently, he requested Energy City Frederikshavn to be 'on call' to share knowledge on local energy financing. Other EU representatives asked for coaching sessions on how make the same financial effort in their cities.

Valuable worldwide network
EnergyCity Frederikshavn has been a part of the Worldwide EnergyCities network since 2011. Bahram Dehghan, Senior Project Manager in Energy City Frederikshavn, Denmark, shared insights on;
'How local banks in the city Municipality of Frederikshavn confirm that citizens have boosting savings accounts'. In addition, he took part in the final panel discussions on energy solutions.

Significant soft loan schemes
It is a significant challenge for the EnergyCity to convince the homeowners to spend their savings or using soft loan schemes. These loan schemes have been developed by the Energy City, specifically for energy friendly renovation.
An action plan with several interesting energy measures, may inspire other energy cities to help improve their housing energy performance. Hopefully nudging homeowners into energy friendly investments in their homes.

During the conference, valuable information and inspiration on energy solutions was shared extensively. Key speeches gave interesting insights into;
- Large scale energy projects
- Milan’s urban food policy
- Alliances for Nature-based solutions
- School of Energy
- Climate Partnerships
- Solar Decathlon Europe
- Data management in sustainable cities through urban metabolism

Once again, participating in the Energy Cities conference certainly proved to be valuable knowledge sharing.
